Mussorgsky’s frantic “Night on the Bald Mountain” is a favorite of orchestra players and audiences alike, and a great beginning to a tuneful Russian program. BSO principal cellist Cynthia Racine is the featured soloist in Shostakovitch’s First Cello Concerto. Fans of the Broadway classic “Kismet” will recognize much of Borodin’s Second Symphony from that glittering score. The original does it better…
