56 Willoughby Street
Brooklyn, NY 11201
Between Lawrence St. and Jay St., Downtown Brooklyn
When you are on our block, you will see a bar called “the Dining Room” and to the left of it a doorway with the street number 56, “Colleen’s House of Beauty” and “The Drawing Room.” Ring the middle buzzer if the door is locked.
From the A,C, or F — Go to Jay Street/Metrotech Station (formerly called Jay Street/Borough Hall station). When you get off the train, look for the sign for Willoughby Street /Jay Street (around the center of the platform.) When you get to street level, you will be on the corner of Jay and Willoughby Streets. Walk on Willoughby so that the street numbers are going down. Go for half a block, and you’re there.
From the R Train — Go to Jay Street/ Metrotech. When you get to street level, walk half a block. (Please note: do not take the N Train. It is express, and will bypass this station.)
From the B or Q Train — Go to the DeKalb Avenue Station. If coming from Brooklyn, board the front car, from Manhattan board the rear car. After going through the turnstiles, go to the left, following the signs for “Albee Square”. You will be on on Flatbush Ave, with Willoughby Street about 80 feet in front of you. Take a left on Willoughby, 5-1/2 short blocks, and you will be in front of my building. It’s a 5 minute walk from the station.
From the 2 or 3 Train — Go to Hoyt Street station. Exit near the middle of the train. At the street level, you will be at the corner of Hoyt and Fulton. Go across Fulton, and walk 1 block down Bridge Street. When you get to Willoughby, take a left, and walk 1-1/2 blocks.
From the 4 or 5 Train — Go to Borough Hall Station. When you exit the train and get to the street level, you will be by the Brooklyn courthouse building, near the corner of Joralemon and Court Streets. Walk towards the large sign that says “Brooklyn Dental” (Court Street will be behind you). The street just to the left of the sign is Willoughby. Walk down Willoughby for a few short blocks, until you pass Jay Street. That will put you on my block.
Go over the Manhattan Bridge. As you get to the Brooklyn side, you come to the first intersection, which is Tillary Street. Go straight through the light, and you are on Flatbush. Go straight through the next traffic light (Myrtle Street) and at the 2nd set of lights, Willoughby Street, make a right. Continue on Willoughby for three blocks, and make a left on Bridge Street. Go one block to the end of Bridge Street, and you come to the corner of Bridge and Fulton Street. Continue across Fulton street, and slightly to the left, take Hoyt St. You are now on Hoyt St between Fulton and Livingston. On this block, on the left hand side, is an indoor parking lot, which is for Macy’s. This is the cheapest lot in the neighborhood. I believe you can still park there for the entire afternoon for under $8.
After you park, walk back onto Hoyt Street and take a right. Walk across Fulton Street and slightly to the left onto Bridge Street. Walk to the end of Bridge Street and take a left onto Willoughby Street, and walk 1-1/2 blocks. This walk is about 5-10 minutes.
